Gladiator is
a 5 reel, 25 payline and 250 coin online slot machine with Wild & Scatter symbols, great number of winning combinations and
two bonus feature games. This Ancient Rome theme game was released by Playtech in February 2009 with 2 other video slots:
Great Blue and Diamond Valley Pro. The great theme, incredible graphics and sounds, large number of winning opportunities and
bonus games make this slot to be a popular game.
Playtech's Gladiator slot is based on the Russell Crowe film of the same name.
The only thing missing from Gladiator is the big brash New Zealander himself. I was impressed with the quality and
sharpness of the graphics that transfer you into the times of slaves and gladiators,
and make you entertained for hours.
Gladiator offers a range of coins for every budget - starting from $0.01 up to €/£/$5.00 coins that results
in up to $50 bet per line or up to $1,250.00
per spin (if you are a high roller and bet max on all pay-lines). Over 39 winning combinations are available on the reels.
All combos must start from the leftmost reel, and the symbols have to be in a row. The winning symbols on the reels
carry out Ancient Rome theme: Gladiator Helmet, Coliseum, General Maximus, Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Lucilla,
Senator Gracchus and traditional A to 9 symbols.
Wild: The Gladiator Helmet symbol is Wild and stand for any other symbol, except Scatter,
to make the possible winning combination. The Helmet can appear only on reels 2, 3 and 4, and it does not have a regular win,
it only wins when substituting. 3 Wilds appearing simultaneously in any position on the reels 2, 3 and 4, initiate the
Gladiator Bonus round.
Scatter: The Coliseum is a Scatter symbol; two or more of them anywhere on the game screen award you with
an additional win from 2x to 100x your total bet per spin. The Scatter symbols do not have to occur on a particular payline
to pay. Three or more Coliseums scattered simultaneously on the reels activate the Coliseum Bonus round.
The Gladiator Bonus Round
The Bonus round is triggered when 3 Wild Gladiator Helmets appear simultaneously anywhere on the reels 2, 3
and 4. In the Gladiator Bonus game, a centered window reveals 9 masks in either gold, silver or bronze, equal to 10, 5 or 2
times the total bet respectively. The Bonus round prize equals to the total value of those 9 masks.
Coliseum Bonus Feature
The Coliseum Bonus round is activated when 3 or more Scatter Coliseums appear anywhere on the game screen. The Bonus game
includes a grid of four rows and five columns. Starting from the bottom row, you pick one stone at a time
from the rows to win a prize. Stones picked from the first row determine the number of free spins. Stones picked from the second
row reveal your win multiplier to be used during the free games. Third row's Stones reveal an Extra Scatter symbol
to be used during the free spins. Fourth row's Stones reveal an Extra Wild symbol for the free games.
Extra Wild can be one of the five theme symbols only. Extra Scatter can be one of the royals symbols or theme symbols except
Commodus and Lucilla. When you pick a stone, one of the following can occur:
- The next pick is made from the following row.
- An extra pick is given in the currently active row.
- The whole column is automatically opened.
- The selected stone reveals a Collect item, the bonus round game ends and the free spins start.
During the free spins, the Coliseum Bonus round can not be retriggered. However, if Commodus appears on reel 3 during
the free spins, 3 extra free spins are added to the remaining ones.
During the free games, the Gladiator Bonus round can be triggered.
During free games, the Wild and Extra Wild substitute for all symbols, except Scatter and
Extra Scatter. Wild also substitutes for the Extra Wild theme symbol. The Extra Scatter win is multiplied by the total bet per spin.
In total Gladiator is a great new video slot machine with impressively realistic graphics and a bunch of bonus features
and extra winning opportunities.
