What was your initial reaction to your big win?
I just sat, stared and then started shaking all over. After a few minutes, I called the casino to find out what to do. Then I called my oldest daughter in Boston, my mom and later my younger daughter in Orlando.
How do you plan on spending your winnings?
I will get a few things that really need to be replaced like my TV and vacuum. I'll send each of my daughters a check so that they can get themselves something special. Hopefully I'll take my 86 year old mom to Florida to see my daughter and her husband. Finally, I'd like to pay off some bills.
What advice do you have for others?
What goes around comes around. I left my life in Connecticut to move to Rome to take care of my 86 year old mom who is alone and doesn't drive. So maybe this is a special gift to me for what I chose to do for my mom.
What is your dream holiday destination?
A cruise to Hawaii.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I play with my dog, read, and enjoy using the computer.
What 3 things would you take with you on a deserted island?
I would take: my computer - so that I could communicate with my family and the rest of the world; a picture of my family - so I could see them everyday; and the largest umbrella ever - to protect myself from the elements.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?
I am a 58 year old divorced lady. I have 2 wonderful girls. My mom is 86 and lives alone in the home my parents built 55 years ago. My dad died 14 years ago. I am a retired high school math teacher and love numbers.
