Did anything unusual happen the day that you hit the jackpot?
"No, just the usual busy day. I played some slots to wind down. Though, I did seem to be on a continual winning streak that night."

What was your initial reaction when you won?
"I just sat there, staring at the screen, and then I thought oh my God! But what could I do - it was 1AM here and I couldn't ring anyone and tell them. I took photos of the screen that showed I had won a jackpot, the winning lines, and of the withdrawal screen - everything."

How will you spend your winnings?
"Well in my currency [New Zealand Dollars], I received about $30,000 of which $5,000 is allocated to taking my family away to a swanky hotel for a weekend, so we can all take a break. The balance will be to clear some debt. And the majority is to finally furnish my house with nice furniture, rather than the second-hand stuff I have always had. Oh, and I bought my dad the whiskey he had always wanted to try but could never afford on his pension - well it took three bottles before he remembered the right name! But looking back, that may have been his cunning plan!"

How long were you playing before you hit the jackpot?
"I played for a couple of hours that night because I had kept winning. The only reason I was playing the progressive was because I had won $1,100 for the evening and cashed out $900 and decided to blow the rest on a progressive which I don't normally play. I won the jackpot on my first or second spin! Unbelievable!"

What do you do for good luck?
"Nothing specific although I do sometimes find myself saying things like ‘come on mum,' or ‘come on granddad' hoping for help form above."

"I have always lived by the ‘work hard play hard' rule. About six months before I lost my mother she had told me I had to stop working and slow down a bit! "Somewhere where the pace is slow, with all my family and their families, chilling out with blues, brews, and barbeques!"

"Travel overseas and see the world. I never did this when I was in my 20's like many people did. I was always too tied up with work, studying or saving for a house to make the break. This money means that I can get the things I have been saving for now, and can now start putting funds towards that big overseas experience."

What do you do in your spare time?
"Watch DVDs, go out to clubs and pubs with friends. I chill out or party hard! I enjoy gardening, jigsaw puzzles, reading and basically just vegetating. And of course, I enjoy playing a few slots."

If you were told you had to donate all of your winnings to a good cause, where would you donate it?
"On the top of my list would be organizations that research into, or assist patients and families who suffer from heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer's disease - all diseases which have taken loved ones of mine."

If you were stranded on a deserted island what 3 things would you take with you and why?
"My cell phone to call for a boat to pick me up, a case of red wine, and a good book to occupy myself until they arrive."
